The Republican Scientific-Practical Conference dedicated to the 100-th anniversary of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic was held at UNEC.

At first, the participants of the conference got acquianted with the photo illustrations exhibited at the UNEC Museum of Independence. The exhibition includes the photos of the founders of the republic, soldiers and officers, and the important documents of that period, as well.

The conference started with sounding of the State anthem. The pro-rector of UNEC for science and innovations, professor Sakit Yagubov said that, celebrating the 100-th anniversary of the establishment of the first parliamentry democratic republic in the Muslim East at the state level was the embodiment of great respect for our history and independence. S.Yagubov spoke about the processes taken place in the international arena and in the region on the eve of the establishment of ADR, and talked about the struggle of the enlightened intellectuals of our people and the political figures of that time for protecting our national identity, statehood traditions and transfering them to the future generations.

The Member of Parliament, the doctor on histirucal sciences, professor Fazail Ibrahimli assessed the establishment of the People’s Republic as a whole, the honor and dignity page of the history of Azerbaijan. The Member of  Parliament noted that, the establishment of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic had defined the legal, political, ideological, cultural and historical foundations of our independent statehood, and  highlighted that our people were proud of that date. The historian-scientist talked about the implemented reforms and the contribution to statehood made by the ADR. He noted that, the Government of the Republic seting borders of Azerbaijan, saved our state from being divided, as well as, took steps to make example for the world regarding the country’s education, economy, creation of parliament and other spheres. F.Ibrahimli emphasized that, the Nationwide Leader Heydar Aliyev had declared our current state as the successor of the Azerbaijani Democratic Republic and he called the announcement of 2018 as the year of Republic as the example of the attention paid to the history of independence of Azerbaijan.

Nizami Suleymanov, the professor of “Humanity subjects” chair of UNEC spoke about the rich state-building experience of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic. He noted that, the ADR put the unforgettable marks  in the history of the national-statehood, strengthened the freedom and self-esteem of our people, created the solid foundation for the future independence of the country.

The counsellor to the rector of UNEC, the associated professor  Elshan Baghirsadeh delivered the speech on the topic “Azerbaijani Democratic Republic – the initiatives for the formation of the national economy” and spoke about the economic reforms carried out within the period of governance of ADR. He pointed out that, the ADR  had achieved the great success in forming the national economy in the short period of time.

The speakers noted that, the establishment of the Azerbaijani Democratic Republic was the prideful page of our history and that every citizen should do the best for further strengthening of its successor, today’s independent Azerbaijan.
