The “24/7 library” has launched at UNEC
On November 1, the opening ceremony of the 24/7 library was held at the Azerbaijan State Economic University (UNEC).
The Education Minister Ceyhun Bayramov, who participated in the opening ceremony, was told that, the library that to be operated for the first time in the country within 7 days and 24 hours, had been equipped with the appropriate meeting standards lighting and ventilation system, the modern software, high-speed fiber optic internet line and the computers with the latest settings. On the II and III floors of the 3-storeyed library are operating the specialized large reading rooms with extensive foundation and designed with an open shelf system. Here is possible to access to the electronic resources of the famous libraries, including “Oxford University”, “Cambridge University”, “The MIT”, and “Duke University”, ECONBIZ, JSTOR, “Duke University Press” and EBSCO databases. The students will be able to use the electronic database of the National Library named after M.F.Akhundov, which is consisted of 60 thousand books, 140 thousand newspapers and magazines, and 15 thousand dissertations, as well. The users also can have access to the database of the Web of Science platform, which is consisted of 126 626 articles. At the same time, the library, which serves 104 students, will provide access to more than 760,000 electronic readers. The library having the opportunity to render the service to 104 students at the same time, will provide the access to more than 760 thousand electronic resources in general.
Then there was the presentation of one more innovative project – the familiarization with the “UNEC Extern” center, equipped with the most up-to-date technological equipment. It was noted that, the advantages of the center developed based on the experience of leading universities of the world, include the opportunities for connecting the online lessons from anywhere, to give the questions to the teacher for a deeper understanding of the subject, to participate in discussions, to review the video database of lessons at any time and anywhere.
It was noted that, the team of local and foreign academic-teaching staff will provide the trainings in the “UNEC Extern”. There are 6 educational studios, 12 administrative and 1discussion room in the center. The electronic lectern, the special touch screen, monitor, HD camera and sound equipment had been installed in the studios. It is possible at one educational studio to teach simultaneously 500 students at one time, and 9-12 thousand students within the day.
