The event was held with the joint organization of the Ministry of Youth and Sport, the State Employment Agency, the Azerbaijan Youth Fund, and UNEC in order to ensure the employment of young people and the realization of their existing potential. More than 1,000 vacancies were presented at the Career Day, where more than 50 local and foreign companies were represented, and an internship program for 1,500 young people was presented as part of the “Progress” project.
Deputy Minister of Youth and Sport Indira Hajiyeva, Chairman of the Board of the State Employment Agency Mustafa Abbasbeyli, the rector of UNEC, Professor Adalat Muradov, Deputy Executive Director of the Azerbaijan Youth Fund Gadir Khalilov spoke at the official opening of the event.
The rector of UNEC Professor Adalat Muradov congratulated the young people who participated in the event on the occasion of Youth Day and wished them success in their future activities. The Rector pointed out that one of the university’s main goals is to provide employment for UNEC students and graduates in the labor market, and talked about the work carried out in this direction. He noted that during the past period, 162 events had been held by the UNEC Career Center, and for the first time in the country, at the Virtual Fair organized by UNEC, where 700 vacancies and 56 internship programs had been offered by more than 120 companies, 708 students had internship programs, and 464 students and graduates were employed. A. Muradov also informed about the non-academic transcript reflecting the assessment of the student’s skills, as well as the subjects taught for the purpose of developing the soft skills of the students.
Deputy Minister of Youth and Sport Indira Hajiyeva talked about the reforms implemented by the state in the direction of effective employment of young people, which is an important component of youth policy in the country, and their involvement in economic development processes. The deputy minister emphasized the importance of developing the career skills of young people from secondary school and talked about the duties of educational institutions in this direction.
Chairman of the Board of the State Employment Agency Mustafa Abbasbeyli spoke about the requirements of the modern labor market and said that special importance is given to the skills of young people. He emphasized that digitization is rapidly changing the requirements of the labor market, some educational institutions do not meet the requirements of the labor market, and the importance of close cooperation between the real sector and universities. M. Abbasbeyli stated that more than 150 students and graduates of UNEC work in the Agency and said that this is the largest indicator among universities.
Gadir Khalilov, deputy executive director of the Azerbaijan Youth Fund, informed about the projects implemented by the organization he represents in the direction of youth development. Speaking about the importance of holding career days, G. Khalilov expressed confidence that the organized fair will be useful in providing employment to young people.
The official part continued with speeches in the TEDx format on the topic “Opportunities created for young people”.
Then the event participants got acquainted with the stands of the companies.
