UNEC’s Academic Staff visit Sumgait Chemical and Industrial Park
Academic staff of Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC) has called at the Chemical Industrial Park of Sumgait (SCIP) on December 7.
The role of the SCIP possessing a giant infrastructural network in ensuring sustainable and economic development of our country was spoken about within the meeting realized by the Ministry of Economy. Deputy Minister Niyazi Safarov said that 9 companies has got the status of resident in the park the total of the area is 300ha. The total amount of the investment involved in accordance with the projects of these residents will cost $ 1.1 billion. N.Safarov added that the kind of projects would be able to become the chemical and industrial center of the Caucasian region.
It was noted that in the Vocational Training Center intended for the training of 500 students vocational training in 30 different directions of industry would be implemented. To set up the operation of the training system in line with the European standards the model of “parallel education” will be applied there, according to the curricula of the German education system.
Highly appreciating the establishment of this type of industrial enterprises and parks based on innovative and cutting edge technologies as a result of President’s industrialization policy, UNEC Rector A.Muradov said they would play the role of engine in the development of Azerbaijan’s economy in the future. Emphasizing the significance of practical knowledge in the development of cadres meeting the requirements of the market, Rector said UNEC is interested in establishing ties with SCIP. He brought to attention that the cooperation would contribute to both parties. Rector offered to administrate trainings in the Vocational Training Center to perform at SCIP by UNEC. He stressed the opportunity of conducting joint scientific researches, using SCIP as a practical base by UNEC which intends to become scientific-research oriented university.
A.Muradov noted UNEC could make its contributions in launching the goods produced in SCIP to foreign markets. Thus, it can provide the assistance in studying the foreign markets where the universities cooperating with UNEC are situated.
N.Safarov pointed the possibility of involving UNEC employees in the working groups established in the ministry in connection with the industry.
Afterwards, UNEC’s academic staff become familiar with the first residents of the industrial park “Azertechnoline” LTD and “Polymer” of SOCAR closely and followed the presentations on the manufacturers.
