The next session of the Academic Board of Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC) has been held.

The session started with sounding the “Presidential Decrees of the Republic of Azerbaijan about Gazakh and Zagatala branches of Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University”.

Afterwards, the Board members began to discuss the upcoming spring examination session. Vice- rector for Education, Professor Damat Baghirov delivered the information about the preparation for the session. He said the spring session is determined to be held through June 1 to July 4 of 2016. To ensure the normal organization of the exams within the period the relevant structures are already instructed. The tasks are carried out in a timely manner. The Vice-rector noted that exam halls are prepared in each three academic buildings and connected to a single network. To guarantee prompt response to questions that may arise among students the departments have already instructed to ensure the teaching staff’s participation as the monitors. He highlighted that the operation of hotline service was organized in the highest level and the participation of public, parents and the representatives of media and NGO had been provided.

Rector A. Muradov has especially noted the quality of tests and instructed that the Heads of Departments should check their quality. The Board members evaluated the preparation to the exam session positively. Director of the Financial Department Nasimi Ismayilov made a report on “The Results of Economic Activities held at UNEC in 2015”. He said in 2015 in compare with the other years financial opportunities of UNEC significantly increased. Thus, revenues increased at the expense of accurate records of tuition fees; unnecessary costs were saved. In the second term of 2015/2016 academic year more than 1500 students were provided with scholarships which are 494 people more in compare with the previous term. Afterwards, the project of new standards on Graduate Program has also been discussed. Head of the Graduate Center Gabil Manafov provided the participants with the information about the project developed with the initiative of UNEC. He said the project differs with the similarity and difference to the standards applied at the moment. The similar feature is the fact that 107 credits and two years of training will remain unchanged. The proposed project offers to reduce one year and a half of active training to one year. In existing standards there are disciplines with 2, 4 and 8 credits; in the new project credits of all subjects are 6 credits. Students who pass the foreign language testing at admission will not need to take English classes in Graduate Level. The most important of the innovations is that the first year of graduate education will be the theoretical, but the second year more attention will be paid to the practice; the time allocated to internship will be increased twice.

The project was broadly discussed in the session. The project developed on international standards was proposed to be submitted to the Ministry of Education.

Debates on establishing commissions in the content of Academic Board of UNEC have also been made. It was decided to set up five commissions:

– Commission on Unity of Education and Science;
– Commission on Work with Learners;
– Commission on Work with Labor Market;
– Commission of Social Affairs;
– Certification Commission.

Discussions on establishing Neuro- linguistic Center at UNEC was made within the session. It will be the commercial project to be founded in the region for the first time. Head of UNEC’s Department Hamid Hamidov delivered the information about the center to perform on public grounds. It was said that two laboratories are planned to work under the center: neuro-marketing research laboratory and test laboratory. The Center will provide neuro- marketing services to public institutions and private companies.
