Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Pashayeva Mahabbat Tofiq
She was born in 1965 in Baku.
In 1987 she graduated with honors from the History faculty of Azerbaijan State University (now Baku State University) and began her research activity in the Archeology and Ethnography Sector at the Institute of History of ANAS. Since 1988 she has continued her scientific research in Moscow, Institute of Ethnography named after Miklouho-Maclay of the Academy of Sciences of the SSR.
In 2000 she defended her candidate thesis, but in 2013 her doctoral thesis (“Traditions and beliefs of Azerbaijanis”) on April 2013.
She is a doctor of historical sciences.
She has been working at the Azerbaijan State University of Economics since 2000. Since 2006 she has been working as an Associate Professor of the department of “History of Azerbaijan”, since 2015 – Professor of the department of “History of Azerbaijan”.
In 2013-2014, she participated in the Khinalug Documentation Project of the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt-Main, within which the monograph “The History and Ethnography of Shakhdagh Peoples” was published in English.

In 2015 she was the winner of the main grant competition of the Science Development Fund under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan as the project manager.
She is the author of more than 100 scientific works published in foreign and national journals, including 4 monographs (one published abroad) and 2 methodical manuals. She has participated in several international conferences in Turkey, England, Italy, Russia and Belorussia.
She is the author of 2 methodical manuals on “Economic history of ancient world countries” and “Northern Azerbaijan at the beginning of the 20th century”, 3 monographs, and 50 scientific articles.
Since 03.06.2019 she has been appointed head of the Center for Multiculturalism on a public basis.
She is currently a professor at the department of “Humanities” of UNEC.
She is married and has two children.
