UNEC Design School was established on the basis of the “Design” department, which was abolished on 19.10.2020 in order to ensure the implementation of the decisions of EN 172 of the online meeting of the UNEC Scientific Council dated 31 May 2020, EN 173 of the online meeting of 14 September 2020. Школа дизайна UNEC создана на базе упраздненного с 19.10.2020 факультета «Дизайн».
В Школе дизайна UNEC подготовка кадров ведется по четырем направлениям по специальности 050306 – Дизайн. Помимо изучения обязательных предметов, студенты выбирают по одному предмету из каждого из четырех факультативных блоков и самостоятельно формируют свою учебную программу.

Design is the activity of designing the aesthetic properties of industrial products. Designing things is a field of activity that ensures their aesthetic harmony, taking into account the convenience of human working, domestic and leisure conditions. Design is a system of management of interdependence of industry and market in the mass consumer society by giving characteristics such as ergonomics, functionality, beauty to the appearance of products that meet the requirements of the time, it is a form of marketing, mass communication between the consumer and the producer. In the modern world, design, its complex internal structure and a number of functions in society have become a comprehensive and multidimensional phenomenon of world culture. At the educational levels of the “Design” specialty, students are provided with a number of knowledge important for professional creative activity. On the basis of this knowledge, a system of skills and habits is formed in future specialists, which creates a basis for the competitiveness of high-quality and highly artistic design works. Also, this enables them to approach their professional activities from a creative point of view.
Admission to the “Design” specialty is carried out in the V specialty group. The duration of education is 4 years (Full-time). Education is conducted in Azerbaijani and Russian languages. Currently, 770 students study at the faculty.
Students who graduated from the “Design” specialty work in a number of industrial and food companies and enterprises that operate individually along with mass production – fashion houses, clothing and textile enterprises, furniture factories, advertising companies, printing houses, food sector, etc. they can engage in designer activities – fashion designer; stylist; trend, image and style consultant in the clothing sector, specialist in the field of visual presentation and design in sales centers; designer of clothing and accessories in theater, film and television; graphic designer etc. During the activity, they get the opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills they have acquired during the study in an innovative way.
Exhibitions on various topics are regularly organized by UNEC School of Design. Paintings and decorative-applied art samples of students studying design are displayed at the exhibitions.
