The international relations of the Azerbaijan State University of Economics covers the bilateral cooperation with the foreign universities, participation in the international educational programs, involvement of foreign students, collaboration with the relevant international organizations and other directions.

Collaboration with the foreign universities envisages the implementation of student and teaching staffs’ exchange, realization of joint Summer Schools and Dual Diploma Programs, organization of joint scientific conferences and workshops, mutual beneficial exchange of experiences. ASUE has been signed bilateral cooperation contracts with 92 universities of 32 counties up to now.

Currently our University cooperates with the Siegen University of Germany, the University of Warwick of Great Britain, the University of Bologna of Italy, the University of Business and International Studies of Switzerland, the University of Malaga of Spain, the Mykolas Romeris University of Lithuania, the Solbridge International School of Business, Woosong University and the Universities of Gazi, Hajettepe, Sakarya Universities of Turkey.

At present ASUE students got a chance of studying at the above mentioned universities within a term; besides the teaching staff’s exchange program is of great importance in improving the training process at ASUE and benefitting from the positive experience of foreign universities.

New cooperation ties have recently been made with the University of Economics and Technologies of the Turkish Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges, the Kiev National University of Ukraine, the Shanghai University of China, the Russian University of Economics named after Plekhanov, the Management Technologies Institute of India, the Dunayvaros University of Hungary, the Paris Sorbonne University in the United Arabian Emirates and the other universities.

ASUE gives special importance to establishing the dual diploma programs with the leading universities of the globe. The establishment of joint MBA Program on “Business Administration and Management” with the University of Business and International Researches of Switzerland should be emphasized as the first successful step in the direction.

At the same time, ASUE works in close collaboration with the World Bank, WTO, UNCTAD, World Intellectual Property Organization, Asian Development Bank, Islamic Development Bank, Germany International Cooperation Society, Turkey Cooperation and Coordination Agency and other international organizations. The “World Bank Public-Information Center” and “WTO Support Center” are in operation at ASUE. Our University is the only member of UNCTAD Virtual University from Azerbaijan.

In addition, ASUE is the member of International Association of Universities, European Universities Association, Federation of the Universities of Islamic World, Caucasus Universities Association and the kind of international organizations.

According to the information for the end of 2013/2014 academic year, 282 foreign students from 21 countries are getting educated at ASUE. Students from Turkey, Georgia and Russia are the majority of them. Currently, foreign students are mostly studying at the Schools of Turkish World of Administration, International Economic Relations, Informatics and Management, Commerce, Business Administration and Finance.

The participation in the international programs and projects is of great importance for the international cooperation. We can indicate the TEMPUS Program as the most successful of our partnership programs. Thus, ASUE has prepared 3 different projects as the coordinator within the TEMPUS IV sixth call. It is gratifying that ASUE was announced the winner for the TEMPUS Project on Development and Improvement of the University Administration in the Field of International Relations” by the European Commission and 654.000 euro was granted for the implementation of the Project. ASUE became the winner of the TEMPUS Program for the first time. Besides, ASUE is currently participating in another TEMPUS Project as a partner on “The Integration of People with special needs in the Higher Educational Institutions of Azerbaijan”.

The other international program begun to be implemented in 2013/2014 is the Mevlana Exchange Program. 11 of the professor-teaching staff of ASUE passed internship within 2-6 weeks at the Universities of Gazi, Hajettepe, Sakarya and Akdeniz of Turkey, conducted lectures on relevant disciplines and got acquainted with the modern training methods at these universities. Besides, 11 of the professor-teaching staff from the Universities of Sakarya, Suleyman Damirel, Chukurova and Akdeniz were interned at ASUE within 1-2 weeks and participated in the training processes. In addition, 6 students of ASUE were sent to the Universities of Hajettepe and Sakarya and a student of the Suleyman Damirel University of Turkey studied at ASUE for a term within the Mevlana Program.

Relevant events are being held for ASUE’s active accession to the Programs of “Erasmus+” and “Horizon 2010” and for taking advantages of opportunities offered by the programs to the students and teachers.

ADMISSION OF THE DOCUMENTS FOR “MEVLANA EXCHANGE PROGRAM” FOR 2014-2015 ACADEMIC YEARS FOR THE PROFESSOR AND TEACHING PERSONNEL

Admission of the document for the exchange of professor-teaching staff for 2014-2015 academic years within “Mevlana Exchange Program” realized in accordance with the contract signed by the Ministry of Higher Education of Turkey Republic and Azerbaijan State University of Economics has been announced.

Mevlana Exchange Program is a program which aims the exchange of academic staff for ASUE in the leading Universities of Turkey. The participation at the training processes, lecturing, getting acquainted with the modern teaching methods, participating at the scientific conferences, benefitting from the large library fond.

Provision of the joint researches are intended to be realized by the academic staff of our university within the exchange program carried out from one week to three months.

All the expenses concerning the exchange program is paid with the Scholarship by the Ministry of Higher Education. Academic staff of all Departments of ASUE can take part in the Program.

Those who are interested in the Program should submit the Application Form by March 31 2014 to the International Relations Office.

ADMISSION OF THE DOCUMENTS FROM UNDER GRADUATE, GRADUATE AND DOCTORAL STUDENTS FOR “MEVLANA EXCHANGE PROGRAM” FOR 2014-2015 ACADEMIC YEARS HAS BEEN LAUNCHED

Applies for the “Mevlana Exchange Program” implemented in accordance with the contract signed between the Ministry of Higher Education of Turkey Republic and Azerbaijan State University of Economics have been started.

The exchange of undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students for 2014-2015 academic years is being realized within the framework of the program. Students may study at the leading universities of Turkey for one or two terms.

All the expenses concerning the Program will be paid on the Scholarship of Ministry of Higher Education. Undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students from all Schools of ASUE can benefit from the Program.

Those who are interested in the Program should submit completed Application Form to the International Relations Office by March 31 2014.

Being the member of below listed associations aseu has broaden its international relations:

  • Grade point average of the students studying in the I, II and III year at bachelor degree must be – at least 75 (on a 100 point scale)
  • Grade point average of graduate and doctoral students must be- at least 80 (on a 100 point scale)

Overview of the project

Tempus is the European Union’s programme which supports the modernisation of higher education in the Partner Countries of Eastern Europe, Central Asia, the Western Balkans and the Mediterranean region, mainly through university cooperation projects.

This year ASUE’s TEMPUS project “Development and improvement of the University Administration on International Affairs” (UNIVIA) has been recommended for funding. The university was awarded a grant of the value 653,908,71€ to implement the project.

Being a cross-regional project UNIVIA meets Tempus Programme’s Regional Priorites in the field of Structural measures/Governance Reform with the specific priority on the development of international realitions. Therefore, this project will have an integral role in consulting the implementation of structural reforms in project partner countries.
